MASTER CLASSES

Master Class on Soilborne Pathogens of Wheat,
held in China
These Master Classes are primarily aimed at mid career agricultural
scientists, senior administrators, senior academic personnel, decision
makers and public servants in developing countries. Since the introduction
of these Classes in 1992, the focus has changed more to training decision
makers rather than laboratory scientists. There is increasing emphasis
on Classes that enhance the management of technology transfer for agriculture
in developing countries.
Each Class consists of from 12 - 20 participants. A special point is made of including a few Australians in most Classes wherever possible. The Classes are of about three weeks duration, with lectures, discussion sessions, video presentations, laboratory work and professional visits. Classes that do not involve laboratory work last for two weeks
Ian Metcalfe, Bruce Holloway, Jim McWiliam & Neil Inall (editors)
The objective of this book is to provide a comprehensive introduction to all facets of research management in agriculture for research directors, managers, scientists and students involved in all types of agricultural research. For the first time in a single manageable volume, this book draws together and discusses the disparate dimension of research management. The book stresses collaboration and communication as the key features of efficient agricultural research management. Successful research outcomes are only achieved through inclusive involvement of clients and stakeholders at all stages of the research, beginning with priority setting and planning, then right through to the application of research outputs and outcomes for the end users. The editors and authors are senior agricultural research directors and managers, agricultural consultants and academics with an immense collective wealth of agricultural research, research management and training experience.
