THE NORTHERN TERRITORY PROGRAM
Assessing forest/savanna
resources in Nusa Tenggara Timur The Northern Territory Program was established in April 2002 to provide a Northern Territory focus for The Crawford Fund's training program, which aims to increase the number of trained technicians, technologists and scientists who undertake useful and effective R&D activities to improve rural productivity and food production generally in developing countries. The Northern Territory group will complete The Crawford Fund's Training Program's mainland network of independent committees made up of experts from rural, business, foreign aid, research and development sectors. The Northern Territory Committee aims to identify and develop initiatives that make use of local expertise to benefit countries overseas while also creating educational, business and trade opportunities for Northern Territory. The Fund's Northern Territory program will develop linkages and training efforts in developing countries. In particular there is a tremendous opportunity to foster the ever-growing relationships between NT and East Timor through these activities. Local business people, academics, rural and fishing industry representatives and others are welcome to provide input into the decisions to be made on the program's focus and priorities for its Northern Territories constituents. The priorities of Territorians will be given due attention by the committee as it develops its links with our northern neighbours.
