THE VICTORIAN PROGRAMDeveloping
expertise in the Management of Cocoa The Victorian program, established in 1995, has had strong support from the Victorian Government and the private sector for its training activities in food processing, dairy farming, and forestry. Over the next three to five years its emphasis will be on post harvest losses which are estimated to cause 30 to 35 per cent of the world food losses, contributing enormously to food insecurity in many developing countries. The Victorian Program intends to concentrate on helping to reduce post harvest losses by assisting in the transfer of technologies that will help developing country farmers and food technologists to maximise their harvests across the range of crops, horticulture, livestock and fisheries activities. Victorian scientists and technologists have welcomed the opportunities to interact with colleagues and students to help them lift agricultural production in developing countries, while at the same time enhancing the scientific capacity of their own agencies through networking and exchanging knowledge and ideas on food and fibre production.
