13-14 December 2021, Canberra
As part of our efforts to encourage young people in their study, careers and volunteering in international agricultural research we usually offer our highly sought after conference scholarships. The program is a unique learning, networking and mentoring opportunity for young students and scientists with a genuine interest in international agricultural research and development.
It is with much disappointment that our 2021 scholarships will need to be deferred to 2022.
The Crawford Fund Board has come to this difficult decision due to the ongoing uncertainty around COVID-related travel and the likely inability of all scholars to travel to Canberra or to return to their home State directly after the conference. We are also keen for our scholarship recipients to have the benefit of the full Crawford Fund conference scholarship experience, and this year we expect the mentoring and networking benefits will be impacted by expected smaller numbers attending.
As this year’s event is a hybrid event, we will offer our scholars free online registration to attend.
Having our scholars as part of the crowd really adds to our event for everyone attending, so we have no doubt that this aspect of our 2021 event will be missed. We hope that through online attendance, we will still get the benefit of the scholars’ perspectives via the Q&A sessions.
Some good news is that next year it will be our 35th birthday, as well as ACIAR’s 40th birthday and we have every intention of making the event our best ever!
