Maree Bouterakos
MDiet (Hons), Head of Nutrition, World Food Programme (WFP) Lao PDR

We have recently presented a blog and podcast featuring Maree Bouterakos explaining her nutrition pathway to agriculture for development. You can now hear Maree discuss nutrition and food security in our region.

Maree, a dietitian from Melbourne, was supported to attend our 2018 conference in our scholarship program and now sits on our Victorian Committee and is a member of Researchers for Agriculture in International Development (RAID) Network. She has eight years’ experience in nutrition in international development, academic and clinical settings across the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to her current position at WFP Lao PDR, Maree worked in Italy at WFP Headquarters, and previously with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Italy and Sri Lanka. Maree has been involved in several nutrition-sensitive agriculture programmes, focused on improving the nutrition status of women of reproductive age (15-49 years), children and adolescents.

We are pleased to have Maree presenting at a free webinar to be co-hosted by the Victorian Committees of the Crawford Fund and the Ag Institute of Australia on “Emerging trends in nutrition and food security in the Asia Pacific region” to be held via zoom on Tuesday, 29 June from 12.00-1.00pm.

Maree will discuss the emerging trends in nutrition and food security in the Asia-Pacific region with emphasis on key nutrition-sensitive agriculture programmes to address the triple burden of malnutrition – the coexistence of undernutrition, micronutrient deficiencies and overnutrition.

You can register here to attend and will receive the zoom link on registration.

And you can also apply for the conference scholarship that Maree originally received – more details are online.
