Tasmania: Doing Well by Doing Good: The Benefits and Impacts of International Agricultural Research

As part of our Doing Well by Doing Good Campaign, each of Crawford Fund’s State and Territory  Committees is holding a related forum in the first half of 2023.

Our Tasmanian Committee is hosting TASMANIA: DOING WELL BY DOING GOOD: The Benefits and Impacts of International Agricultural Research” at Government House, Hobart, Friday, 31 March 2023 from 9.30am -12.45pm followed by a light lunch.  We are very appreciative of the opportunity to have our event in such a beautiful venue, and with an opening by Her Excellency The Hon Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania.

Join us to celebrate the benefits to developing countries, Australia, Tasmania and our researchers from international agricultural research for development and consider the challenges ahead.

Attendees must please register to attend this free event for catering and Government House security purposes – details are at the end of this note. You will be directed to the Government House Tasmania event on the Trybooking.com website.  Bookings for this event will close at 9pm on Sunday, 26 March 2023.

All are welcome for this in-person event which will include:

We will also hear from a range of NextGen, trainers and project leaders all with international experience to explain their work, its impact and benefit in-country and to South Australia, and on them personally and professionally. The full program is here. A Q&A session will enable interaction between speakers and the audience and, like all Crawford Fund events, it will be a great networking opportunity.

Following the forum, there will be a free light lunch.

As part of our NextGen program, after the forum high school students and their educators and university students are being invited to an interactive workshop from 1.30-3.30pm with hands-on activities about international agriculture, involving scientists and social scientists who are working on projects in a range of developing nations. Please contact Tasmanian Committee member Stephen Ives with any queries on the NextGen workshop.
