Welcome to our new communications team member

July 7, 2015

It’s great to welcome Melina Gillespie as our new Communications and Admin Assistant. Melina will have particular responsibility for our website and the design and production of publications but will also be assisting Cathy Reade, Director of Public Affairs and Communication, across the Fund’s public awareness activities.

Melina-GillespieMelina has 20 years’ experience in science, but her belief in the need to communicate and promote public discourse about science and research has led her to transition from a research career to one in communicating science.
She is completing a Master in Science Communication degree at The University of Queensland (UQ) and is coming to us from the Centre for Mined Land Rehabilitation at UQ, most recently as their Communications and Engagement Officer.

“We are so lucky to have someone whose achievements range from designing and managing research programs to developing effective communication strategies and activities, and encouraging best-practice outcomes,” said Cathy. “Melina is joining us at a particularly busy time, with our annual conference around the corner, so it’s wonderful to have her great skill set and enthusiasm on board.”

Melina is coming to our annual conference in Canberra from 10-12 August—if you’re attending, be sure to say hi to her.
