The Crawford Fund for Food Security was proud to hear the recent announcement that long-serving Tasmania Committee Coordinator, Dr Neville Mendham, had been recognised  for Excellence in Service to Agriculture with a Lifetime Achievement award at the Tasmanian Agricultural Productivity Group (TAPG) annual awards presentation.

The award is presented to individuals who have made a profound contribution to agriculture in Tasmania.

“With a career spanning decades from vegetable, wheat and sheep farming to teaching and research in agronomy, to Landcare activities, and representing local farmer interests, Neville has certainly dedicated his life to the field of agriculture, both in Australia, and beyond through his work with the Crawford Fund,” said Shaun Coffey, Chief Executive Officer, the Crawford Fund for Food Security.

“Neville’s research helped get new industries up and running in Australia and overseas,” he said.

His research contribution in canola agronomy and physiology helped to get the Australian industry off the ground, and similarly, his early work on oil palms in Papua New Guinea contributed to getting that industry and its associated breeding and agronomy work going, which now supports many thousands of people.

“This award is wonderful recognition for Neville and his service,” he said.

Congratulations Neville!
