Help us test a new Advocacy Learning Guide

Would you like to become a more effective advocate for food security and international agricultural research, while helping us test a new learning resource?
The Crawford Fund for Food Security has developed an Advocacy Learning Guide to help people make a clearer and more persuasive case for food security and international agricultural research. This guide is a self-directed learning tool for anyone who wants to advocate for Australia’s role in international agricultural research and food security—whether you are a student, a researcher, a farmer, a business professional, or simply a concerned citizen.
The Guide explores three practical questions: What do I advocate? How do I advocate? How do I adapt my message for different audiences? It combines evidence and argument with practical tools for developing messages, telling stories, responding to objections, engaging different audiences and planning advocacy activities.
Before developing the Guide further, we want potential users to help us test and strengthen it.
We will therefore run three free 90-minute online pilot workshops during September.
The sessions, led by Shaun Coffey and John Dixon, will introduce the Guide and give participants an opportunity to explore how they could use it in their own work. We will also be asking participants to challenge our thinking: What works? What is missing? What could be improved? Where could the Guide be most useful? And what additional tools or resources would increase its value?
These are interactive pilot sessions rather than conventional training workshops. Participants will be helping us shape the final resource while gaining an early opportunity to explore its tools and approaches.
Every participant will receive a free beta copy of the Advocacy Learning Guide.
The pilot sessions will be held on:
15 September (Tuesday) at 10 am AEST
17 September (Thursday) at 2 pm AEST
21 September (Monday) at 12:30pm AEST
Numbers will be limited to encourage discussion and participation.
