Kaye Basford

Professor Kaye Basford FTSE, FAICD, FIS, FAIAST, FQA
Acting Head of the School of Biomedical Sciences; and former President, Academic Board and Head of the School of Land, Crop and Food Sciences at The University of Queensland

Kaye BasfordProfessor Basford is a biometrician working at the interface between statistics, quantitative genetics and plant breeding. She is a former President of the International Biometric Society and the Statistical Society of Australia (which awarded her life membership in 2010). Other awards include a Fulbright Post-Doctoral Fellowship to Cornell University in 1986-87 and the 1998 Australian Medal for Agriculture from the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (now called Ag Institute Australia).

Kaye is a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Rice Research Institute and a Director of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, Grains Research Foundation Limited and Union College. Through her role as President of Academic Board, she is a member of UQ Senate (the governing body of that institution).

Kaye is Chair of the Crawford Fund’s Queensland Committee and a member of its Board of Directors.
