Dr Geoff Allan FTSE PSM
Chair, NSW State Committee
Geoff Allan served 42 years with the NSW Government, culminating in his role as Deputy Director-General of the Department of Primary Industries, where he oversaw Fisheries, Forestry and Hunting operations.
His career has focused on advancing sustainable fisheries and aquaculture across Australia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific. Through extensive collaboration with the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research—as Project Leader, Fisheries Program Consultant, and Reviewer—he has championed partnership models that deliver mutual benefits to Australia and developing nations.
Dr Allan’s research concentrated on aquaculture nutrition, resulting in over 250 scientific publications. Recognition for his contributions includes inaugural Fellow status with the World Aquaculture Society (serving as President 2003-04), Fellowship of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, and a Public Services Medal in 2020. He currently chairs the NSW Recreational Fishing Trusts Advisory Council.
