Each year, the QLD Committee of the Crawford Fund for Food Security offers a small number of International Engagement Awards (up to $15,000 each) to enable Queensland scientists to offer mentoring and training to scientists in developing countries in our region who are working on similar aspects of food and nutrition security.
“Capacity building and knowledge sharing with our international neighbours builds vital networks and relationships in industries of significance to both Queensland and the countries involved,” said Professor Bob Lawn, Honorary Coordinator of the Queensland Committee.
“In recent years the committee has supported a diverse range of training and mentoring projects across countries including Fiji, New Caledonia, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Solomon Islands,” he said.
“These awards have contributed to a growing web of regional expertise across areas and commodities including biosecurity, data analytics, livestock, fisheries, sugarcane, forestry, mungbeans and mangoes, and we look forward to the next round of applications,” he said.
