Dr Helen Garnett

Helen Garnett

Dr Helen Garnett has over 25 years’ experience in transforming technical innovation into practical commercial outcomes. She sits on the boards of the Grains Research and Development Corporation, Sugar Research Australia and the Crawford Fund as well as the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics and a number of energy-focused companies. She has 15 years’ experience as a Chief Executive and 20 years as a Non-Executive Director having been closely associated with the resource, energy and biosciences sectors throughout this time.

Dr Garnett is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Academy of Technical Sciences and Engineering. Between 1994 and 2003, Dr Garnett served as the Executive Director of the Australian Nuclear Science & Technology Organisation and as an Australian representative to the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency. From October 2003 to 31 December 2008, Dr Garnett was Vice Chancellor of Charles Darwin University in the Northern Territory and from September 2008 to 30 June 2014 served as a Director of the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation. Dr Garnett is an Emeritus Professor of the University of Wollongong and of Charles Darwin University.
