Ms Megan Williams

Co-Vice President, RAID Network

Megan has had a career in agriculture predominantly in the private sector, whilst dedicating her time across international agricultural research projects. She is currently undertaking her PhD at the University of Tasmania while working in a full-time capacity on the development and research of Vegetable Seed varieties, across Australia. Her PhD is looking at the microbiomes within the soil of cool climate vegetable production, specifically beans.

Megan graduated with a Bachelor in Agriculture from The University of Melbourne and trained as an agronomist in wheat breeding, working across scientific and commercial roles, as well as managing a laboratory, centred around training and upskilling farmers, agronomists and agriculture industry professionals on best seed treatment principles and applications.

In 2023 Megan completed her Masters of Science with the University of New England. She completed her research component of her Masters in Switzerland in 2022 on “high throughput screening of biological seed treatments for control of Sclerotium rolfsii in cotton.” Megan has continued throughout her career and studies to have a love and passion for Research for Development (R4D) of agriculture. Whilst completing her undergraduate studies, Megan worked in China’s Hebei province. She then joined the RAID Network Committee (Researchers for Agriculture in International Development), first as a representative, then in their Capacity Development team, which she has been a part of for over 8 years. Megan is currently Co-Vice President of RAID, alongside her role leading RAID’s Vietnam Research Program team. Megan has been involved in collaborative projects for almost 6 years with the Vietnam National University of Agriculture, Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, Crawford Fund for Food Security, RAID Network and Australian Volunteers (DFAT). This partnership has focused on building research capabilities, relationships and future collaborations between early to mid career researchers in Vietnam and Australia. She has also worked on prior projects as a Client Lead alongside Seed Companies in Ghana, implementing critical Seeds for Impact Projects.
